Club History


Greenbank RSL Services Club Inc (Greenbank RSL) has been developed from a compact brick clubhouse in 1991 to one of Queensland’s leading Club, voted 2007 QUEENSLAND CLUB OF THE YEAR!

The foundation of Greenbank RSL was its commitment to returned serviceman and women. Greenbank RSL and its closely affiliated Sub Branch provide an extensive range of services to its returned and ex-service men and women and their families. With two dedicated Welfare Officers, services provided include hospital visits, assistance with disabilities, pension advisory services, assistance with funeral arrangements and home maintenance.

Greenbank RSL is the recognised leader in the Queensland Club Industry. The Club has been awarded the major award in each category by Clubs Queensland and in 2001 was inducted into the Hall of Fame. In 2010 the Club was also inducted into the Quest Newspaper Gold Hall of Fame.

Greenbank RSL was the first Club in Queensland to:

  • Actively adopt and implement a Responsible Service of Gaming policy,
  • Initiate and manage a Funds Management Program,
  • Establish a Corporate Liquor business unit,
  • Undertake an aggressive Smoking Management Strategy,
  • Provide assistance to community groups accessing the Community Benefits fund,
  • Devise a school based traineeship program,
  • Introduce a Seniors Club to provide a social environment for our Senior Citizens,
  • Establish an annual overseas scholarship program also known as Staff Bursary.

Over the last 10 years Greenbank RSL have received a wide range of awards including:

Dress Code & Regulations


  • One Greenbank RSL member may sign in a maximum of three (3) guests. Please remember you are responsible for any guest you sign in.
  • Membership cards must be presented and swiped upon entry.
  • Minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Minors under 18yrs of age are permitted on premise until 10pm.


At 5pm, all lights in the club are dimmed and we ask all patrons to stand and reflect on the sacrifices of those who died in conflict and those who have passed away since their return. The Ode recites as follows:

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning.
We shall remember them.


The dress code of Greenbank RSL is strictly smart casual at all times. Please refer to our dress regulations below:

  • No thongs or workwear are permitted in the Grange Buffet from 5pm.
  • Thongs and tidy workwear are permitted in all other areas of the club until 6pm. Anyone wearing thongs or workwear will need to leave or move to the Sports Bar.
  • Shoes must be worn at all times.
  • No football shorts are to be worn at any time.
  • Men are restricted from wearing any headwear.*
  • Bike pants are not permitted at any time.
  • Swimwear is not deemed neat and casual and is unacceptable.
  • Obscene t-shirts are not permitted.
  • Singlets are not accepted.
  • Masseur sandals and ugg boots are deemed unacceptable footwear.
  • Micro mini skirts and midriff tops exposing excessive flesh are not permitted.
  • Men are not permitted to enter the club in shorts after 10pm.
  • Thongs are classified as a flat shoe with a V strap for both men and women.

The following are permitted in the Sports Bar until close:

  • Tracksuits
  • Board shorts
  • Thongs
  • Numbered Jerseys
  • Clean and tidy workwear


  • Children must wear shoes at all times.
  • Management decision shall be final in all matters relating to dress and behaviour.
  • Strictly NO children are permitted in the designated smoking areas at anytime. This includes "Out There" smoking deck and "Sports Bar" smoking area.
  • We ask that you respect our members and patrons with your dress standard.
  • Exemption may be granted in relation to dress regulations under certain circumstances, including medical reasons, national dress of overseas visitors and religious beliefs*.

Member Facilities


Greenbank RSL Club boasts seven bars and two bottleshops. They are located in prominent, easily accessible locations.

Top Deck on Anzac – The latest addition to the Club, the resort style bar is a unique bar in Brisbane. An open air design without walls, it brings a new element to the Club’s facilities, allowing for a getaway area with a laid back feel.

Star Bar: Bubble Bar – The Star Bar is an ultra modern bar and lounge with dazzling light shows, a huge illuminated polycarbonate star, 9 metre waterfall, colour changing bubble walls and adjoining “Out There’ smoking deck. It is amidst all the action on the ground floor, plus it also has two "Big Screens" to sit back and watch live events and be entertained

Flanders Bar – Located at the back section of the first floor and adjacent to the Southern Cross Buffet Restaurant, this bar is perfect if you want to settle into one of the comfortable lounges and enjoy one of the superb cocktails while listening to the cool tunes of the piano man. It offers a cosy, ambient environment centered around a baby grand piano.

Southern Cross and Medallions Bistro Bar – These bars service patrons in the busy restaurants so that patrons can enjoy table service while they dine.

Sports Bar – Located on the lower level of the Club, the Sports Bar is the Southside’s premiere Sports Bar. Showcasing the best of Australian and International sports, the Sports Bar celebrates sport like no other venue before it. With 14 plasmas, TAB and pool tables, the Sports Bar is the perfect venue to watch the game, catch up with mates and have a coldie!

The Memorial Room Bar – The Memorial Room bar services patrons using the facilities of the Memorial Room. This room is used for a variety of events including functions, concerts, bingo, cabaret shows and luncheons.

Club Main Reception and Side Reception Bottleshop – Providing a large range of wines, beers, spirits and mixers, the bottleshops are located at both entry and exit points enhancing the convenience for patrons.


Greenbank RSL offers some of Brisbane’s most cosmopolitan dining. Greenbank RSL boasts restaurants and a café offering an incredible variety of cuisines and atmospheres. From fresh seafood and alfresco dining to a la carte dining, there is a wide variety under one roof.

Southern Cross Buffet Restaurant - Southern Cross Buffet Restaurant is a great place for family and friends. Each night is themed and prices to suit all occasions. It has a seating capacity of 220 guests.

Medallions Restaurant – Medallions has a seating capacity of 240 and is available for bistro or a la carte dining seven days a week. The menu comprises an extensive range from traditional roasts and Asian cuisine to juicy steaks and succulent seafood dishes.

Down Under Café & Bar – The Down Under Café suits those who are after a more casual dining experience. The menu consists of light meals and snacks. Guests also have the choice of dining indoors or al fresco.


Greenbank RSL has 280 poker machines across two gaming areas, 4 Keno terminals throughout the Club and two TAB terminals in the Sports Bar. All facilities are easily accessible making our patrons experiences exciting and comfortable.

The Strip Gaming Floor – Designed with a ‘Vegas-like’ feel, The Strip Gaming Floor is designed to make a statement with various oversized design features, mirrored with the finest of details.


The Memorial Room is utilized for a vast range of activities such as Bingo, discos, concerts, cabaret shows, luncheons, wedding receptions and auctions. The room has a seating capacity of 220 and also boasts its own dedicated bar facility.

The Southern Cross Restaurant is often used for larger functions such as corporate lunches and dinners and weddings. Guests enjoy the regular comforts of the Southern Cross Restaurant with individual touches applied by the Function Team.

Top Deck is the perfect location for a function. With its open air environment, Top Deck makes for the perfect cocktail gathering or for a big milestone event!

Sporting Rooms – The lower and original level of the Club houses the Sports Bar and, as the name suggests, this area takes on a predominantly sporting focus. It houses TAB and Keno terminals, 14 plasma screens broadcasting Foxtel and Sky Channels, pool tables and video games all surrounded by an array of sporting memorabilia.
